When you are pregnant, your body changes to accommodate the fetus and prepare for delivery. After delivery the body does not always return to its former pre-pregnancy state on its own. You may have issues that were not present prior to pregnancy or an exacerbation of a pre-existing condition. In most cases physical therapy treatment can help significantly reduce your pain and also give guidelines in how to safely transition back into an exercise program after delivery. In addition, body mechanics training for childcare is vital to reduce risk of developing or continuing to aggravate low back pain. Women who undergo Cesarean sections have unique problems that can also be addressed with therapy.
