Physical therapy can help to decrease many types of pelvic pain. Many women have complaints of pain with
intercourse, heaviness or pressure in the pelvic area, pain in the low back, tail bone, rectum, vagina, or
abdomen. These symptoms can come from a number of causes including pregnancy, delivery, Cesarean section,
abdominal surgeries, infection, trauma, fall landing on tail bone, and others. If your doctor has ruled out
serious disease or pathology then physical therapy may be able to help.
Some of the specific diagnoses of pelvic pain include Interstitial cystitis, Vulvodynia, Vulvar vestibulitis,
Vaginismus, and Dyspareunia.
